Southbay Equity Project

Southbay Equity Project was born in the hope that we could do something to help us – effectively – engage the topics of race, inclusion and equity and empower educators and parents to be influencers of change. Visit our Facebook page for active resources!

In early 2016, TKG, ARTZONE 4 KIDS and MBNS started talking about establishing a consortium of schools committed to empowering educators and community to foster more inclusion in the Southbay.

We were thinking about how to empower:

  • educators to foster a culture of racial equity in classrooms.
  • our community to be catalysts for change in racial inequities in the South Bay

…and how to offer a safe place for educators and community to explore internal change and support dialogue of race with others.

We had some meetings, screened CRACKING THE CODE and sparked some important conversations. This collective project is on pause but in the spirit of empowerment, here are some resources for talking to children about race:
